Terms of Use
Alex Sears CPA · Effective October 2, 2026
These terms cover the online tools Alex Sears CPA ("the firm", "we") offers to clients: the client pages at clients.alexsearscpa.com, the bank connection through Plaid, and the connection to your QuickBooks Online company through Intuit (together, "the Service"). By connecting an account or using a client page, you agree to these terms. Our work for you is governed by your engagement letter. If anything here conflicts with it, the engagement letter controls.
Who may use the Service
The Service is for current clients of the firm and the people they authorize. You must have the authority to connect each account you connect, for example as the owner or an officer of the business.
What the Service does
- Bank connections (Plaid). You sign in to your bank through Plaid. We receive read-only account names, balances and transactions. Nobody can move money through this connection.
- QuickBooks Online (Intuit). You approve the connection on Intuit's own screen. We read your company's reports and transactions to do the bookkeeping and tax work you engaged us for. We create or change entries in your QuickBooks company only for work you have asked us to do, and we can show you every entry we made.
- Client pages. Pages for payroll changes, bank connections and similar requests, opened by a link we send you and a code emailed to you.
We never see or store your bank or Intuit password.
Your responsibilities
- Keep your links and emailed codes to yourself, and tell us right away if you think someone else used them.
- Give us information that is accurate and complete. Our work depends on it.
- Review what we prepare before you approve it. Nothing is filed or paid without your approval.
Disconnecting
You can disconnect at any time: email alex@alexsearscpa.com, remove access in your bank's or Intuit's settings, or tell us when your engagement ends. We remove the connection the same day and delete the access tokens. We keep only the records the law and professional rules require, as described in our privacy policy.
Privacy
Our privacy policy explains what we collect and how we protect it. Plaid handles your bank data under its End User Privacy Policy. Intuit's terms govern your QuickBooks account.
Availability
We aim to keep the Service available, but it depends on banks, Plaid, Intuit and other providers, and it may be interrupted. If a connection stops working, we will ask you to reconnect or send us statements instead.
Limits on our responsibility
The Service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, the firm is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from the Service, such as a bank or Intuit outage, and our total liability for the Service is limited to the fees you paid us for the related work in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits our professional responsibilities to you under your engagement letter or the law.
Ending access
We may turn off a link or connection when an engagement ends, if we suspect misuse, or to protect your data. You may stop using the Service at any time.

Changes
If we change these terms, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. Continuing to use a connection after a change means you accept it.
